Hi there.

My name is Aaron, I go by the persona Tails, i’m the owner of TechPress, TechPress Network and Subsidiaries. (Xyaena’s Blog, Deadbullet Music and DB Music On Demand — coming soon)
I am writing this blog post to inform visitors that TechPress Network might not be able to continue providing tech news in the near future.

Rupert Murdoch’s media (News Corp) wants the Australian Government to roll out a new code, called the News Media Bargaining Code. This will force the big search engines, such as Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo to provide user information to news companies (such as the Murdoch media empire, The Sydney Morning Herald and others), if said user were to search for a news article. It could also mean that visitor data, regardless of where you come from, may be stored and used by the Australian Government. (sounds kinda like China, don’t you agree?)

If this new code is to progress through the high court of Australia, not only will TechPress have to conform with said code (since we are Australian based), but we will have to start charging people for access to our website, to keep the lights on and food on our table.

Whilst we do operate on a free basis, we cannot keep relying on BAT donations (in which we have none) to keep us afloat.

TechPress Network has decided to go dark on Monday, August 24th to protest this new code.

I thank you all for your understanding, and I wish you all the best in these strange and uncertain times.

All the best,
Aaron (Tails)
